Majhi provides assistance of Rs 5,000 as 1st installment to over 20 lakh new beneficiaries

Bhubaneswar, Nov 25 (Representative) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday provided financial assistance of Rs 5,000 as the first installment to over 20 lakh new beneficiaries in the third phase of Subhadra Yojana assistance in Sundargarh. In the first phase, assistance to over 25 lakh beneficiaries was transferred by the Prime Minister’s Office. In the second phase, assistance to over 35 lakh beneficiaries was provided at Baripada in Mayurbhanj. By the third phase, 80 lakh women in the state have received assistance of Rs 4,000 crore. While disbursing assistance, the Chief Minister said that this assistance would help in making the dreams and aspirations of women a reality. The Chief Minister said the fruits of development should be felt by people from all walks of life. Subhadra is a well-thought-out and beautiful step in this direction, he noted. Highlighting the contribution of Sundergarha in the fields of hockey, education, health, mining, industry and tourism, the Chief Minister recalled the contribution of Sundargarh in the freedom struggle. Majhi said a total of 4.59 lakh mothers and daughters in Sundargarh district have registered for Subhadra and the first installment of money has been given to more than 3.37 lakh women by the third phase.

The Chief Minister launched 984 projects worth Rs. 1201 crore for Sundargarh district. The Chief Minister inaugurated 692 projects for the development of Sundargarh district with an investment of over Rs 808.30 crore. He also laid the foundation stone of 288 projects for the district with an investment of over Rs 312 crore and launched four more projects worth Rs 81 crore. Emphasizing the promises and commitment of the government, the Chief Minister said ‘’within 100 days of the formation of our government, we have fulfilled our promise to the people of the state by launching the Subhadra scheme under the leadership of the Prime Minister.’’ More than one crore mothers and sisters of the state will benefit from the Subhadra Yojana, the Chief Minister said that this is the biggest public welfare scheme for the state. The Chief Minister said under the guidance of the Prime Minister, Odisha has started its journey to become a developed state, and Subhadra Yojana will play a major role in this. The pace of development in Odisha is accelerating under the double-engine government, he added. Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram said that the state government is working with commitment to the development of women. Women empowerment must be taken forward by including all eligible beneficiaries in the Subhadra Yojana, he added.
