Maintain connectivity, coordination, structural audit of hazardous buildings to overcome disaster: Shinde

Mumbai, May 30 (Agency)Maharashtra State Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday directed that the officials of all systems from district-division to state level should maintain good communication and coordination to overcome the natural calamity. He was speaking in a comprehensive review meeting of the pre-monsoon preparations of all the systems in the state was conducted at Sahyadri State Guest House in Mumbai. One-time loss of property can be recovered. But not of life. Therefore, one should be careful to avoid loss of life due to calamity in the coming monsoon season. Modern technology should be used for search-rescue operations. During this period all the officers should keep the phone open round the clock,he said.

On this occasion School Education Minister and Marathi Language Minister Deepak Kesarkar, State Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik along with senior officials of Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, NDRF, SDRF, Central and Western Railway, Indian Meteorological Department, Home and various Secretary level officers of the department were also present. Collector, Divisional Commissioner, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer, District Superintendent of Police along with senior officials attended the meeting through audio visual system. Mr. Shinde reviewed the preparedness regarding disaster response and management from the officers’ present as well as all the divisional commissioners. The Chief Minister also gave important instructions regarding department wise disaster risk and preparedness accordingly. He said, do digital mapping of disaster-prone areas with modern technology. Take help of modern technology equipment for response and search-rescue and rescue. Communicate with citizens in areas that have already experienced landslides, he added.
