Amaravati/Telangana, March 16 (Agency) A low pressure area formed over the Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal on Tuesday evening. It lay over central parts of South Bay of Bengal at 0830 hours on Wednesday, Meteorological Centre here said today. In a bulletin, it said that the low pressure area is likely to move east-northeast wards and become a well marked low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea around Saturday morning. Thereafter, it is likely to move north-northwestwards initially along and off Andaman & Nicobar Islands, intensify into a depression by Sunday morning and into a cyclonic storm around Monday.
It would then continue to move north-northwestwards till March 22. Thereafter, it will move north-northeast wards and reach near Bangladesh and adjoining north Myanmar coast by March 23 morning. Lower Tropospheric Southwesterly winds prevail over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, the bulletin said. The maximum temperatures are likely to be 2-4 degree Celsius above normal at a few places in Telangana during the next five days. There is likely to be a rise in maximum temperature by 1-2 degree Celsius at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are likely to occur at isolated places in Telangana on March 20, the bulletin said.
Maximum temperature of 41.5 degree Celsius and 37.4 degree Celsius was recorded at Nalgonda and Hyderabad of Telangana on Tuesday, the bulletin added. In a special bulletin, Met said that heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated areas in the districts Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal (Rural), Warangal (Urban) and Nagarkurnool of Telangana during the next 48 hours. The same situation is likely to prevail at isolated pockets in the districts of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal,Nizamabad, Jagityal,Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Peddapally of Telangana on March 18, the bulletin said. The highest maximum temperature of 39.4 degree Celsius was recorded at Kurnool on Tuesday, the bulletin added.
