Hamirpur (HP), January 31 (Agency) Large-scale health screening of people is on in the diarrhea-affected villages of Nadaun block in Himachal Pradesh, an official said on Monday. Deputy Commissioner Debasweta Banik said six teams of the state Health Department have been deployed for carrying out the check-ups, and so far people in 47 villages have been examined. According to the Health department statistics, 868 cases of diarrhea have been reported so far. Of these, only one patient is under treatment in the hospital and his condition is stable.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Hamirpur district Chief Medical Officer and District Health Officer have been instructed to make all necessary arrangements. The Deputy Commissioner said that sufficient quantity of medicines and ORS packets have been delivered to the affected villages. Two additional vehicles have been made available from Health Block Tauni Devi for the teams working in the field. Apart from the Jal Shakti Department, the Health Department has also taken water samples and sent them for testing. She said that a wide awareness campaign has also been launched in the entire area and people are being requested to take precautions.
