New Delhi, May 15 (FN Representative) Delhi Chief Minister and national convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal, will hold a crucial meeting with party MLAs on the anti-encroachment drive by the BJP-ruled municipal corporations in the city. As per the officials, a counter-strategy will be devised against the planned demolition drive by the three civic bodies. The corporations have been carrying out demolition in several parts of Delhi, including Shaheen Bagh, Madanpur Khadar, New Friends Colony, Mangolpuri, Karol Bagh, Khyala and Lodhi Colony. The meeting will begin at 11 am at Kejriwal’s official residence, they added. Earlier, the meeting was scheduled for Saturday, but was cancelled following the massive fire in a building in Mundka, in which at least 27 people died.
The Delhi Government and the AAP have opposed the demolition drive by the civic bodies. On Friday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and urged him to immediately halt the demolition drive carried out by civic bodies across the national capital. The Minister has alleged that in the name of anti-encroachment drive, BJP was showing the terror of bulldozers to extort money from the public. He also accused the saffron party of planning to make 70 per cent of Delhi’s population homeless, including three lakh of those living in government authorised settlements.
