International tourism may come to India soon: Shripad Naik

Panaji, Oct 3 (Representative) Union Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik on Saturday said that international tourists may come to India by October 15 and an announcement in this regard would be made soon. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme, organised to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti, he said, ”International tourists may be able to travel to India by October 15 and an announcement is likely to be made by the Central government soon. As Corona cases decrease, we will start national and international tourism.

The announcement will be made soon and there is a possibility of it beginning after October 15.” The union minister said the international flights had been started and chartered flights had been requested to resume. He said it had been done to ensure that tourists booked their trips to India, nowhere else. Recently, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had said that chartered flights would start touching Goa International Airport soon. He had said that a request made by the stakeholders of tourism and travel industry in the state had been forwarded to the Union Home Ministry and response was awaited. A major chunk of international tourists visit Goa during tourism season using chartered flights.
