Indian population worrying for her future: Shanta Kumar

Palampur Apr 23 (Agency) Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shanta Kumar on Saturday said that India’s growing population is worrying for her future. The former Union Minister’s comments came in the wake of the United Nations report that India has now become the most populous country in the world leaving behind China. Shanta Kumar said that this was not a matter of happiness for India but was terribly worrying and indicating a bleak future. He warned that if strict steps are not taken to stop the population explosion, then the future of India will be jeopardised. He said that India has joined the five rich countries of the world and has become the fastest growing economy.. He said that the number of rich people has increased a lot but it is also the country of the most poor and hungry people in the world. Shanta Kumar expressing deep concern said that according to the report of Global Hunger Index, 19 crore 40 lakh people sleep hungry in India. Shanta Kumar said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, all efforts have been made to remove poverty and unemployment. No one else can do anything more than this. Even after this, the biggest reason for poverty and unemployment is the increasing population. He said that the population of India is continuously increasing like a locust. India’s population has increased from 35 crores in 1947 to 142 crores today. Shanta Kumar said that unemployment is increasing. For the post of Peon, B.A. and M.A. degree holders are applying.

Some frustrated and desperate youths are entering the world of crime or committing suicide. Due to the increasing population, forests are being cut and animals are entering the cities. Recently, a leopard entered the Ghaziabad court and a herd of elephants was seen in Nahan. He said that according to the World Quality Report, India has become the 8th most polluted country in the world and the country’s capital Delhi has become allegedly a gas chamber. The population of Delhi is about one crore and the number of vehicles is one and a half crore. Pollution is increasing due to the increasing population. He said that about 70 lakh people are dying every year due to pollution. Shanta Kumar alleged thaT the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech on August 15 last year from the Red Fort had expressed concern over population explosion but nothing was done after that. Shanta Kumar has appealed to the people and political parties of the country to awaken public opinion on this important subject so that the country may enact a law to stop the rapidly increasing population.
