Indian diaspora in Australia holding mega community event to honour PM Modi

New Delhi, May 11 (FN Agency) The Indian Australian Diaspora Foundation is hosting a mega community reception on May 23 in Sydney to honour Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his upcoming visit to Australia for the Quad Leaders’ Summit. Around 24,000 people have registered to attend the community reception, called ‘Australia Welcomes Modi’, being held at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney Olympic Park. The venue has a capacity of 21,000 people. While some 18,500 people will attend the event, a few thousand more will watch live from just outside the venue, according to reports.

With the IADF deciding to make it a bigger and better experience for Indian Australians travelling from Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane, the not-for-profit organisation has arranged a chartered flight, called ‘Modi Express’, along with a train and a car convoy travelling with Indian and Australian flags. During his 2014 visit, a special train, ‘Modi Express’ from Melbourne to Sydney, was organised.
