‘Indian designs are reflection of Indian civilisation’

Chennai, Sep 2 (Agency) Indian designs are reflection of Indian civilisation and the journey of evolution of human civilisation, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N.Ravi observed on Friday. Inaugurating the three-day IIID Design Confluence and ; Showcase (IDCS) here, he said India has privilege of exhibiting the evolution of consciousness in civilisation through habitats to the world. Underscoring the relevance of exposing India’s ancient wisdom in designing and ensure the designing works should carry the essence of unique Indian characteristics, the Governor said Indian designs are perfect examples of symbiotic relationship between mother Nature and Human. “It is India’s unique aesthetic identity apart from safety of structure and health of inhabitants”, he added. “Indian building structures (our monuments and temples) are living examples of intricacies and splendour of our age old and their tangible accomplishments.

The world has changed its look on India now and is looking at Nation with great expectation for solutions of future problems for which our designers have to play a greater role”, the Governor said. He urged the designers to promote initiatives and ideologies of imbibing Indian characteristics in their works of designing creations, designing researches and bringing people’s dreams to reality. Pointing out that Tamil Nadu is highly rich in heritage and has many historical places, temples especially the Thanjavur Brahadeeswarar Temple (called as Big Temple) and monuments that speak proud of legacies, intricacies and matchless beauties, Ravi said the people in Tamil Nadu are torch bearers of ancient civilisation and great in hospitality as well.

The Governor urged the participants from outside the state to visit these ancient monuments to experience wisdom and ancient Tamil culture and carry sweet memories. He wished the convergence for enabling the young architects and students with consciousness in promoting ancient Indian culture and wisdom globally. Noting that the Nation has entered in to the next quarter century of India’s Independence with renewed confidence to make dream of taking world leadership, true, Ravi said India is progressing on fast track in all fields and setting incredible targets and achieving them before the deadlines. This has happened because of collective and collaborative efforts of people towards Nation’s inclusive development, he said. Ravi also released the first copy of handbook on Design Tips towards ‘Design Literacy for All’. Later, the Governor walked through the exhibition and visited the stalls at the venue.
