New Delhi Jan 14 (FN Agency) India has registered 2,64,202 new Covid-19 cases, a jump of 6.7 per cent from Thursday, the Health Ministry saud on Friday. The active cases comprise 3.48 per cent of the total infection while the national recovery rate has decreased to 95.20 per cent. A total 315 deaths were reported, taking the total fatality count to 4,85,350. The active caseload currently stands at 12,72,073 while 1,09,345 people have recovered, taking the total recoveries to 3,48,24,706. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 14.78 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was at 11.83 per cent.
Meanwhile, India’s Omicron tally on Thursday reached 5,753, an increase of 4.83 per cent since Thursday. Delhi reported 28,867 fresh Covid cases and 31 deaths. The positivity rate in the city stands at 29.21 per cent. There are currently 94,160 active cases in the city, of whom 2,424 persons are admitted to hospitals. Earlier, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said the hospital admission rate for Covid-19 has stabilised, which indicates that coronavirus cases may go down soon. The Ministry said that India has administered 155.39 doses of vaccine under the ongoing vaccination drive.
