India moving ahead with people-centric governance: PM

New Delhi, June 6 (Representative) Launching a special series of visually impaired friendly coins, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the country is moving ahead with a people-centric governance approach and it has been the hallmark of his government in the past eight years. “In the past, the country bore a huge brunt of government-centric governance. But today the 21st century India is moving forward with a people-centric governance approach. Earlier it was the responsibility of the people to go to the government for availing benefit of the schemes. Now emphasis is on taking governance to people and free them from the rigmarole of doing rounds of different ministries and websites,” he said. The Prime Minister was speaking after inaugurating iconic week celebrations of the Ministries of Finance and Corporate Affairs here.

“A large part of the world expects India to give solutions to the problems. This is possible because in the last eight years we have trusted the conscience of the common Indian. We encouraged the public as intelligent participants in growth. “He said the increased participation of people in the governance has accelerated the development of the country.It has empowered the poorest of the poor citizens of the country, he added. “We encouraged the public as intelligent participants in growth. We have always found that whatever technology is deployed for good governance is not only adopted by people but also appreciated by them,” the Prime Minister said referring to the achievement of UPI. “In the reform process during the past eight years, priority has also been given to the fact that the youth of our country get full opportunity to show their strength. Our youth can easily open their desired company, they can easily build their own enterprises.

“The Prime Minister said that along with reforms, the government has focused on simplification of processes. “GST has now replaced the web of many taxes at the level of Centre and the state. The country also witnesses results of the simplification. Now it is normal for GST collections to cross Rs 1 lakh crore every month.”The Prime Minister launched the national portal for credit linked government schemes — Jan Samarth Portal which is a one-stop digital portal linking government credit schemes.The main purpose of Jan Samarth portal is to encourage inclusive growth and development of various sectors by guiding and providing them with the right type of government benefits through simple and easy digital processes.Modi also released special series of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 coins.These special series of coins has the theme of the logo of AKAM and will also be easily identifiable to the visually impaired persons.
