‘India diaspora contributes to country’s economic and social cultural growth’

Bhubaneswar, Jan 7 (FN Representative) A press meet was organised at the convention hall where chief secretary Government of Odisha Manoj Ahuja, Secretary Ministry of External Affairs, Arun Chattejee, Information and Public Relations Secretary, Sanjay Singh spoke on the different plans and programmes of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas to be held at the Janata Maidan from 8-10 January.

They observed that the primary objectives of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas are: It aims to foster stronger connections between the Government of India and the Indian diaspora worldwide, promoting a sense of belonging and shared indentity. The event serves as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate the contirbutions of the Indian diaspora in various fields, including economics, culture and politics to both India and their host countries.

PBD offers an opportunity for dialogue between the Indian government and overseas Indians on various policy issues, facilitating discussions on topics relevant to the diaspora, such as visa regulations, investment opportunities and community welfare.

The event showcases various opportunities for overseas Indians in India, including investment prospects, busines partnerships and collaborative ventures, encouraging them to contribute to India’s development and many more.

For the last few years, the Government of India has organised the PBD Convention in partnership with the one of the State Governments. The PBD Convention hosted in Partner State also provides the opportunities to showcase its strengths to the Diaspora and helps attract investment and technology into the State. Different tourist and Indstrial areas have been indentified for the visit of the International delegates. It was revealed that more than 3500 NRIs will participate in the three day mega event in the capital city Bhubaneswar.
