Mumbai, Dec 21 (Bureau) India is better positioned with over 70 per cent of natural infections and excellent Covid vaccination – 88 per cent of adult population with first dose and 57 per cent fully vaccinated – that has led to a lot of hybrid immunity, said Organized Medicine Academic Guild (OMAG) General Secretary Dr IS Gilada. Gilada said in a statement here on Monday that Covid daily infections have consistently been below 10,000 in India since last month. Barring 19 districts of concern, there is no let-up as the test positivity rate is below 0.6 per cent. Even though Omicron can invade immunity acquired through infection or vaccination, such infections will be asymptomatic or mild.
A Malaysia study on deaths caused among those with breakthrough infections (Covid-19 infection after vaccination) after AstraZeneca (Rs Covishied), Pfizer mRNA and Sinovac (China) vaccines, showed least deaths were after AstraZeneca and most were after Sinovac. Infected persons recover with mild symptoms and unaffected lungs or associated illnesses. None of the Omicron cases had any findings on CT-Scan of chest in Mumbai. Hence, it is clear it is not going the Delta way in any parameters whatsoever, Gilada said. When the second wave started waning and the third was seen distant, people put their guards down.
