IMD predicts extremely heavy rainfall for Central and Western India

New Delhi, Sep 3 (FN Agency) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a warning for very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over parts of central and western India till tomorrow.According to IMD, the well-marked low-pressure area over central parts of Vidarbha and the neighbourhood has weakened into a low-pressure area over west Vidarbha and the neighbourhood.“Under this influence, extremely heavy rainfall likely over Gujarat region and heavy to very heavy over Saurashtra and Kutch and West Madhya Pradesh and southeast Rajasthan today and decrease thereafter,” the IMD said. The weather department has also forecast isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Konkan and Goa, Gujarat Region during the next 7 days.

West Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra are also likely to witness heavy rainfall from 3rd to 9th September. “Scattered to Fairly widespread light and moderate rainfall is also very likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-GilgitBaltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan; isolated to scattered rainfall over Punjab & Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi during the week,” the IMD said. It also predicted the formation of a fresh low-pressure area over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around September 5th.
