Bhubaneswar, May 4 (FN Representative) The IMD has predicted a cyclonic storm over Southeast Bay of Bengal on May 8 which will move northwards towards central Bay of Bengal. A latest Meteorological analysis has suggested that a cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over Southeast Bay of Bengal around May 6. The cyclonic circulation would help in the formation of low pressure system over southeast Bay of BengaloN may 7 and under its influence a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region around on May 7 The low pressure is likely to concentrate into a depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal on May 8 which will further intensify into a cyclonic storm while moving nearly northwards towards central Bay of Bengal. The details of its path and intensification will be provided after the formation of a low pressure area, IMD sources said.
The system is under constant watch and being monitored regularly. Meanwhile, the fishermen were warned not to venture into the deep sea area of southeast Bay of Bengal adjoining Andaman sea and central Bay of Bengal. Met sources further said squally weather with wind speed reaching 40- 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas Andaman Sea from May 7 and wind speed will gradually increase thereafter over areas Fishermen, small ships, boats and trawlers are advised not to venture into southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas from May 7 onwards and into adjoining central Bay of Bengal from May 9 onwards Bad weather condition viz., squally weather and heavy rainfall activity is likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands during May 8 to May 11 ,the IMD said and issued advisory to regulate tourism and offshore activities.
