New Delhi, Jan 4 (Mayank Nigam) Cold to severe cold day conditions are likely to prevail over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan for the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its bulletin on Thursday. The weather department predicted that dense to very dense fog likely to continue over some parts of plains of Northwest & East India during next three days and gradually decrease thereafter. The minimum temperatures are likely to rise gradually by 2-3°C over East India during the next three days.
No significant change in minimum temperatures likely over rest parts of north India during next five days, the IMD said. “Dense to very dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail for a few hours in night/morning in some parts over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan during 4-6 January; in isolated pockets on 7th and Dense fog in isolated pockets for subsequent two days,” the IMD said. Dense to very dense fog conditions very likely to prevail for a few hours in morning in isolated pockets over West Rajasthan on 5 and 6 January and in isolated pockets on 7 January, it added. The isolated pockets of Bihar will witness dense to very dense fog conditions for a few hours in morning on 5 January and dense fog in some parts on 6 and 7 January.
Dense fog conditions very likely to prevail for a few hours in morning in isolated pockets over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during 5-7 January and over north Madhya Pradesh on 5 January, the IMD said. It further said, “Cold Day to Severe Cold Day conditions very likely to continue in some parts over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh during 4-6 January and Uttar Pradesh & Rajasthan on 4 and 6 January.” According to IMD, a fresh spell of rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall over extreme south Peninsular India till January 8. Light to moderate rainfall at some places very likely over south Tamil Nadu, south Kerala and Lakshadweep during the next 4-5 days.
