Historic milestone achieved as National Flag unfurled in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 27 (Representative) For the first time, the national flag was unfurled at Tral Chowk in south Kashmir’s Pulwama District on Republic Day, Srinagar based defence spokesman said on Monday. On the 76th Republic Day, the Indian Army celebrated unity, patriotism, and national pride across Kashmir with a series of events fostering community engagement and inspiring the youthThe celebrations spearheaded by the Army’s Srinagar Chinar Corps witnessed active participation and enthusiasm from all strata of the Kashmir, weaving a tapestry of unity and patriotism.He said that events that took place at strategic locations emphasised the shared values of patriotism, security, and progress, reflecting the unyielding resolve of the Indian Army in safeguarding the Nation’s sovereignty and integrity. The spokesman said for the first time, the national flag was unfurled at Tral Chowk in Pulwama District, marking a historic moment of peace & unity.

“The event attended by over 1,000 enthusiastic locals was filled with patriotic fervor,” he said. “This milestone not only marked a new chapter for Tral, long known for unrest, but also stood as a testament to the success of peace-building initiatives by the Indian Army.” Tral area was once known as a hot bed of militancy and separatism. Many of militancy’s poster boys, including Burhan Wani and Zakir Musa, who were killed in separate encounters, hailed from Tral area. In Baramulla, the “Know Your Army” exhibition highlighted the operational strength and technological advancements of the Indian Army. Attendees witnessed drone demonstrations, advanced vehicles, artillery displays, and martial arts performances by Chinar Yuva Karate Kids. A 35-meter-high National Flag served as the centerpiece, complemented by a Mobile Museum showcasing Army-community collaboration. The event inspired over 2,500 attendees, including NCC cadets and civil society members, to contribute to national development

Meanwhile, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in Bagtore village, Gurez Valley in Bandipora district, honored freedom fighters and highlighted the tricolour’s significance as a symbol of sovereignty and unity. The Azmat-e-Hind complex at Tithwal Chiliana Crossing Point also witnessed enthusiastic local participation, demonstrating solidarity and patriotism.The diverse events conducted across the Kashmir Valley are a poignant reminder of the enduring relationship between the Indian Army and the people, the spokesman saidThe Republic day events across the valley were a testament to regions transformation, reflecting its aspirations for peace, unity and progress.
