New Delhi, June 18 (FN Representative) Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to occur over many parts of the country for the next 3-5 days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). “Heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy falls very likely to continue over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam and Meghalaya for the next 3 days,” the IMD said on Monday. “Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh during 17th-21st; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during 17th-19th with isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Assam & Meghalaya and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal during 17th-19th; Arunachal Pradesh on 19th and isolated exceptionally heavy rainfall over Meghalaya on 18th June,” the IMD said.According to IMD, isolated heavy rainfall is also very likely over Konkan, Goa and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during 17th-21st and Gujarat and Odisha on 20th & 21st June.“Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Kerala & Mahe on 17th, 18th & 21st; Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam during 17th-19th; Telangana on 17th and Coastal Karnataka on 17th, 20th & 21st June,” the IMD added. The weather department also forecast that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions over northern parts of the country will continue to prevail for the next 2 days and gradually abate thereafter under the influence of an approaching Western Disturbance towards Northwest India.
According to the IMD, “Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are very likely in many parts of Uttar Pradesh during 17th-19th June and in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi today.” “Isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, and Jharkhand are also expected to witness similar conditions until tomorrow, with a decrease in intensity thereafter,” the IMD said. “Heatwave conditions very likely in isolated parts of Jammu, Kashmir, north Madhya Pradesh, north Coastal Andhra Pradesh, north Rajasthan, Vidarbha and Gangetic West Bengal today and tomorrow, and will abate thereafter,” the IMD said. The weather department also predicted warm night to severe warm night conditions in isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh for today and tomorrow.“Warm night conditions likely in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi tonight; East Madhya Pradesh till tomorrow,” the IMD said.Hot and Humid weather very likely over Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand for the next few days. The weather department forecast no significant change in maximum temperatures over Northwest India during the next 24 hours and over Central & East India during next 3 days. The fall byabout 2-4°C in temperature is expected over these regions thereafter.Regarding Southwest monsoon, the IMD said, “Conditions are favourable for further advancement of monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Northwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, remaining parts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal and some parts of Bihar during the next 4 days.”
