Give justice to the farmers : Hemant Patil

Mumbai Feb 21 (FN Agency) Under the leadership of the successful Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, the farmers of the country will see its prosperous days. It is special that the leadership of the Prime Minister is giving a new direction to the country and the world. This year, on the insistence of India, the whole world is celebrating it as ‘International Year of Whole Grains’. Hemant Patil, National President of India Against Corruption, has demanded that special efforts be made to determine the base price of the agricultural products of the major grain producers in the country. Patil said that he will soon correspond with the Prime Minister in this regard.

The country has got the presidency of G-20 this year. On this occasion, international meetings will be organized in many cities of various states. In these meetings special arrangements have been made for food made from coarse grains. Patil expressed that this initiative has also given global recognition about dishes made India. About 1.45 lakh tonnes of millets are grown in India on 140 lakh hectares. So, in global conditions, nearly 863 lakh tonnes of millet is produced. Cereals are grown in 131 countries of the world. In such a case, if the government makes it mandatory to make the government and private purchase of these crops at the base price by passing the base price law to provide financial support to the farmers, then these farmers will be freed from the looting of middlemen year after year. Along with this, the use of 15-20 percent coarse nutritious grains should be made mandatory in food items such as bakery, bread, noodle, biscuits and other with at least 10 servings, opined Patil.
