New Delhi, Dec 17 (FN Representative) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said the biggest achievement of the Narendra Modi government was that people’s faith in parliamentary democracy has zoomed, since the BJP came to power. “Even our critics will agree that in the last seven years, we’ve brought about a major change. There has been no charge of corruption against the government. Reforms have been brought across sectors after consultation with all stakeholders,” he said at the FICCI’s 94th annual convention here. Shah said the Modi government has expanded the scope of the country’s economy in the last seven years due to major policy initiatives. He said the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to provide a stable policy for the next 30 years and a series of steps were being taken in this direction. “The first thing the BJP government has changed is the approach of the government towards GDP data. Earlier, infrastructure was not part of it.
We have change the definition of infrastructure,” he added. He said the Indian economy’s recovery in the post-Covid era was one of the best in the world. “We brought several reforms, even during Covid-19. We launched PLI schemes in 13 sectors, such as semi-conductors and more. The Modi government gave 5 kg food grains per person/month free of cost to 80 crore people for two-and-a-half years. Such work has not been done anywhere in the world,” Shah added. Slamming the UPA government, he said during their rule, there was “policy paralysis” and massive corruption cases emerged, tainting India’s image. The Minister called upon the FICCI to take the initiatives in policy matters to make India self-reliant. “FICCI must deliberate on where they can take India’s industry in the next 25 years. They must lay out plans to integrate all forces to further strengthen the nation’s industry,” he added.
