Essential commodities worth over Rs 58 crore distributed in Hamirpur dist from Sep 2022 to Dec 2022: ADC

Hamirpur (HP), Feb 2 (FN Agency) Essential commodities worth Rs 58 crore 96 lakh were distributed to the people from September 2022 to December 2022 through 302 fair price shops in the district. Giving this information at a meeting of the District Level Public Distribution Committee today, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Sanjata said food items like flour, rice, pulses, oil, salt and sugar were being distributed to a population of 5, 51,882 families of 1, 49,275 families of district Hamirpur through a total of 302 fair price shops under schemes sponsored by the state and central government. Under the Mukhyamantri Grihini Suvidha Yojana, free domestic gas connections have been provided to 26,456 eligible families in the district so far and the first free refill has also been provided to 24500 beneficiaries.

Out of the total budget of Rs 2 crore 74 lakh allocated to the district under the scheme, about Rs 2 crore 73 lakh has been utilised. In order to maintain the quality of wheat, flour, rice, pulses, oil, salt and sugar etc. being distributed under Targeted Public Distribution System and State Special Subsidized Scheme, the department has conducted 1663 inspections and taken 34 samples of various food grains. Out of these, 30 samples have been found correct and the report of 4 is awaited. Considering the applications received by the committee for running fair price shops at some places of the district, allotment of fair price shops was made and some applications were also canceled due to non-completion of formalities.

The ADC informed that at present e-KYC of about 70 per cent ration cards has been completed in district Hamirpur. An incentive of Rs 4 per e-KYC is being given to the vendors of fair price shops. The ADC instructed the department to complete this work soon. He also directed to make arrangements for digital payment at fair price shops so that consumers can take advantage of this facility. He directed the District Manager of Kangra Central Cooperative Bank to complete the work of digital payment facility in three weeks in all parts of the district.
