‘Education is the most impactful mechanism to change society’ : Vice Prez

Guwahati, Oct 30 (Agency) Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar on Monday said that “Education is the most impactful, lasting, transformation mechanism to change the society’’. To even out inequalities, to combat inequities if we manage to have quality education other things will fall in place, Dhankhar said during an interaction with faculties and students of Cotton University here. He said Education institutions are not required to do the usual work. They have to be a crucible of change when they engage in innovation, research and development and think out of the box. The rise of India is an incremental trajectory. Rise is unstoppable; the world is witnessing our growth. Our ‘Amrit Kaal’ has become ‘Gaurav Kaal’ because we are on a path that is by our civilization ethos, the Vice President remarked.

Dhankar mentioned women’s empowerment and said that the Parliament passed the woman reservation bill. It was waiting for long. Justice has been done to half of the population of this country by providing reservations. We have seen that time when it was believed that the law couldn’t reach some people; government offices were under the rule of middlemen, and corruption was rampant. Now, all those things have come to an end, he said. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu and Vice-Chancellor of Cotton University Ramesh Chandra Deka were also present.
