Munich/New Delhi, Feb 20 (Representative) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held talks on cooperation with a range of German ministers, as well as with the Bavarian Minister President, on bilateral cooperation on a range of issues, including clean tech. On his meeting with Jens Ploetner, who is German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s chief foreign policy advisor, the EAM said on Saturday he had a good meeting, and it was a useful review of global developments. “A good meeting with Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to German Chancellor Jens Ploetner. Useful review of global developments.” Ploetner, a career diplomat, has been Germany’s pointsperson in talks on the Ukraine issue, and has participated in the Normandy format along with representatives of Russia, Ukraine and France in order to find a peaceful resolution to the escalating issue.
EAM Jaishankar also held talks with German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze. The two discussed their respective development partnership outlooks. The EAM said the two share a commitment to promoting green growth and clean tech. “A constructive meeting with German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development @SvenjaSchulze68 “Discussed our respective development partnership outlook. We share a commitment to promoting green growth and clean tech,” he tweeted. Svenja Schulze was environment minister in the Angela Merkel government and represented Germany at world climate summits. Presently the bulk of German climate finance flows through her current ministry, the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
She is quoted as saying that the fight against the climate crisis is her top priority. The EAM also met the Minister President of Bavaria Markus Soeder. The two sides discussed cooperation in clean tech, digital and high tech and he said the Bavaria-Karnataka sister province ties hold great promise. “Delighted to meet Minister-President of Bavaria @Markus_Soeder. “Discussed cooperation on clean tech, digital and high tech. “The Bavaria-Karnataka sister province relationship holds great promise. “Look forward to welcoming him in India.” Karnataka and Bavaria have Sister States arrangement since 2007. Bavaria, officially the Free State of Bavaria, is a federal state in the south-east of Germany, with its capital as Munich, where the Munich Security Conference is being held. Some of the big Bavarian companies in India include Siemens, BMW, Audi, Adidas, Allianz AG, EADS, Linde. EAM had held talks with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Friday.
