Dense to very dense fog will prevail over NW India till Jan 7: IMD

New Delhi, Jan 5 (Bureau) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted dense to very dense fog over Northwest India till January 7. Cold Day to Severe Cold Day conditions are likely to continue over some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Rajasthan during the next 2 days and a significant decrease thereafter, the MeT department said in a statement. No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over north India during the next five days, it said. The weather department further forecast that an isolated light rainfall spell is likely over Northwest and Central India from January 8-10. Light and moderate rainfall spells are likely over south Peninsular India with isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the next 3-4 days, it added.

According to IMD, dense to very dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail at night and morning in some parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, East Rajasthan from January 5-7 and over West Uttar Pradesh and West Rajasthan on 6 January. Dense fog conditions are likely to continue in isolated pockets of Northwest and Northeast India from January 5-8. Cold day to severe cold day conditions are very likely to continue in some parts over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi on January 5 and 6 and cold day conditions on January 7. Cold day to severe cold day conditions will be in many parts of East Rajasthan on January 5 and in isolated pockets on 06th and some parts of West Rajasthan on January 5 and in isolated pockets on January 6.
