Delhi sees 13,287 COVID-19 cases, 300 deaths

New Delhi, May 12 (FN Agency) Delhi recorded 13,287 cases of COVID-19 and 300 deaths from the virus in the past 24 hours, a health bulletin said here on Wednesday. The positivity rate in the national capital, one of the most severely affected by the virulent second wave of COVID-19, is 17.03 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.49 per cent.

With the fresh infections, the actives cases have reached 82,725, but a total of 14,071 patients also recovered in the past day. The fresh cases came from a total of 78,035 tests, comprising 63,315 RTPCR/CBNAAT/True Nat and 14,720 rapid antigen tests, conducted in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases in Delhi have reached 13,61,986 while the death toll is now 20,310.

As per the official data, 4,469 COVID beds are available in hospitals, 4,877 in dedicated COVID Care Centre and 123 in Dedicated COVID Health Care. The health bulletin said 1,29,291 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the past day, which included 84,139 first dose recipients and 45,152 second dose takers. From May 1, all adults are eligible for a vaccination against COVID-19 but the population is large while vaccine doses are less. Delhi is under a lockdown since April 19 with only emergency and essential services open.
