Delhi receives pre monsoon showers, minimum temperature settles at 28.8 degrees

New Delhi, June 16 (Agency) The people of national capital and it’s adjoining areas got some relief from the scorching heat as the city received some pre monsoon showers in the early morning on Thursday. The minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 23.8 degrees Celsius, four notches below the normal, as per India Meteorological Department. While the relative humidity settled at 56 percent at 8:30 am hours on Thursday. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in the national capital is likely to hover around 39 degrees Celsius, with light to moderate rain. Due to the western disturbance the maximum temperature is expected to clock under 40 degrees for the entire week.

Earlier the weather agency in bulletin said that, “Under the influence of Western Disturbances and lower level there will be fairly widespread rainfall over Western Himalayan region and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi & Uttar Pradesh during 16th-18th June. “Isolated heavy rain is likely over Jammu and Kashmir division, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on 17 June ” IMD forecast said.Meanwhile the southwest monsoon has further advanced into some parts of Marathwada, the whole of Karnataka and Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu.”Conditions are favourable for further advance for monsoon into some parts of Vidarbha and Telangana, AP, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and some parts of Bihar during the next 2-3 days” IMD said. “The Southwest monsoon IS likely to hit the national capital between June 20 to 25” said the IMD.
