Delhi Police initiates training prog for cops to adapt new criminal laws

New Delhi, Jan 17 (Agency) Delhi Police Academy on Wednesday commenced a comprehensive training program for its officers to adapt the new criminal laws- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023 passed by the Parliament. The Academy, in collaboration with the National Law University, Dwarka, has meticulously designed its training modules to cover officers of all ranks, from Special Commissioner of Police to the Constables of Delhi Police in a phased manner, police said in a statement. Experts from the National Law University are conducting the sessions, ensuring that officers at all levels are proficient in the application of the new laws, it added.

The four-day training module, inaugurated today by Delhi Commissioner of Police Sanjay Arora, will continue until January 20 for all officers up to SHO level. Addressing the inaugural event, Sanjay Arora, underscored the significance of the training and urged the participants, including higher rank officers to embrace the forthcoming changes as both a challenge and an opportunity. The change in laws is a paradigm shift from the Bhartiya “Dand” Sanhita to the Bhartiya “Nayay” Sanhita, he highlighted. S.K Gautam IPS, Spl. CP/HRD, Ms Chhaya Sharma IPS, Spl. CP Training, Sh. Vijay Singh IPS, Director, DPA, and Dr. Neeraj Tiwari, Faculty of National Law University were also present during the event.
