New Delhi, April 26 (FN Agency) Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday said that the Delhi government will revamp 4 out of 19 city forests with world class facilities. The Minister informed that these forests, based in four corners of the capital city, will be equipped with facilities such as meditation but, grass decorated mud based amphitheatre, nursery, living lab open museum and outdoor activities like bird watching.
The objective behind scaling up the development of select city forests is to provide the residents places for weekend getaways inside the city. “People generally rush to mountains in search of peace and serenity whenever they get free time. We would like to provide similar experience within the city in the lap of nature where they can rejuvenate themselves,” Rai said. The select four city forests which will be revamped with global standards include Mitraon City Forest in South West Delhi, Alipur City Forest in North Delhi, Garhi Mandu City Forest in East Delhi and Jaunapur City Forest in South Delhi. Spread over in 286 acres, the Delhi government will revamp 98 acres of pocket A and B of Mitraon, 48 acres of Alipore City Forest, 42 acres of Garhi Mandu and 98 acres of Jaunpur City Forest, the minister informed.
