CJI tells lawyers to use revamped SC platform for recording judgments

New Delhi, Sep 19 (Agency) Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud on Thursday urged lawyers to use the revamped Digital Supreme Court Reporter (SCR) to give citations. The CJI said that almost 20 young hardworking lawyers are working in the research and planning cell of the SCR. About 37,000 judgments since independence have been translated into Hindi and other languages.

Tamil is also leading now, the CJI said. All our judgments are being translated into every language recognized by the constitution, the CJI said. Our judgments now have neutral citations, SCR was way behind schedule, that’s why we made a mechanism that the moment judgment is delivered, it is uploaded with headnotes, he said. CJI said, “Now you must give SCR citations! Because it is now officially up to date, please use SCR, for all these years it was way behind schedule… please Google it, it’s digital, free, accurate and the official reporter…it also has neutral citations.”
