New Delhi, May 20 (Agency) The central government on Friday issued an ordinance notifying rules for the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) regarding ‘transfer, posting, vigilance and other incidental matters’. The development comes days after the Supreme Court in a ruling gave power to appoint, transfer and post officials to Delhi Govt. As per ordinance, an authority has been formed for transfer and posting of officers, that comprises Delhi Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary Home.
They will now decide on the transfer and posting of officers serving in Delhi. Reacting to the ordinance, Delhi Minister Atishi came down heavily and alleged that the Centre’s ordinance is a clear cut case of contempt of court. “The Supreme Court had directed that the elected government be given powers to take decisions independently, as per its will, as per the principles of democracy. But the Centre’s ordinance is a reflection of the Centre being a graceless loser. The Centre’s sole motive to bring this ordinance is to snatch powers from the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government,” alleged Atishi.
