BSF, BGB IG level border coordination conference begins via in virtual mode

New Delhi, Jun 22 (Agency) With an aim to further strengthen border management between India and Bangladesh, a three day Inspector General (IG) level ‘Border Co-ordination Conference between Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guards Bangladesh BGB) began on Tuesday via virtual mode at South Bengal Frontier headquarter in Kolkata, a senior BSF official said here. He also informed that during the meeting, the matter of mutual interest and Border Management will be discussed including joint efforts against trans-border crime, concurrence in connection with pending developmental works, measures to check illegal cross border movement.

Both sides will also discuss about Coordinated Border Management Plan which include Simultaneous Coordinated Patrols both during day and night, sharing of Intelligence, identification of vulnerable areas, they added. In a three day deliberation, this meeting will also discuss the measures to improve the border domination and to resolve various border related issues in the interest of both the countries and friendship between the two Border Guarding Forces.

The 17 member BGB delegation is led by Brigadier General Rakibul Karim Chowdhury, Additional Director General, Region Commander, North West Region, Rangpur while the representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs of Bangladesh and also a member from Joint River Commission, Bangladesh are participating in this meeting. The eight member delegation of BSF is led by South Bengal Frontier IG Ashwini Kumar Singh. The conference will be concluded on June 24.
