Puducherry, May 31 (FN Agency) Lt.Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a bid to develop the Union Territory in all aspects, gave the slogan ‘BEST (Business, Education, Spiritual and Tourism) Puducherry.’ Soundararajan said she had a discussion with Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma on Monday to make it Fast Puducherry also. Speaking at a function where Modi had a virtual interaction with the beneficiaries on the implementation of Central Schemes, the Lt Governor said the officials were directed to clear the files pertaining to development without any delay.
She also lauded Prime Minister for properly handling the Covid pandemic by the Centre and rescuing the economy of the country. Soundararajan said that the Union government is paying a special attention on Puducherry and more developmental schemes are waiting. Refuting to the claim that Karaikal is being ignored, the Lt Governor said that last week she along with Chief Secretary visited the region and inspected the welfare schemes being implemented there. The government will not neglect any region of the UT, she categorically said.
Thanking Modi for the Ayushman Bharat scheme, Soundararajan said that Puducherry stood number one in implementing the scheme. Speaking on the occasion, Chief minister N Rangaswamy said that such interactions would help to get feedbacks in the implementation of government schemes. He said the Prime Minister’s aim is upliftment of the poor and there could be delay in implementing schemes and the issues will be rectified. Puducherry is implementing all schemes, Rangaswamy said even free rice was distributed to both the red colour and yellow colour ration card holders.
