Benefits of various schemes for backward classes and disabled peoples should reach them: Athavale

Sangli, Maharashtra, May 15 (Agency) Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athavale on Saturday directed government officers to ensure that the benefits of the government schemes reach the downtrodden peoples, the backward classes and disabled peoples and any shortcomings should be brought to notice and addressed. Athavale was addressing a review meeting of various schemes run by central and state governments for backward classes and disabled peoples in the state, at the government guest house here this evening, in the presence of acting district collector Dr Swati Deshmukh, district Superintendent of Police Dixit Gedam, Zilla Parishad’s additional CEO Chandrakant Guddewar, assistant commissioner of social welfare department Jayant Chacharkar, ZP social welfare officer Balasaheb Janata.

Athavale said that under Jandhan scheme of central government, total 45.15 crore bank account opened in the country while 3.14 crore accounts opened in Maharashtra, while under Ujwala had scheme total 9 crore peoples in the country, 44.96 lakh peoples in Maharashtra, were reaping the benefits of the scheme and if there were any mistakes in these schemes, then government officers should bring it to the notice. He said that on behalf of central social justice department benefited with distributing various materials to a total of 30 lakh disabled peoples in the country.
