New Delhi, July 31 (Representative) National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Saturday said there is an atmosphere of conflict in the world, and strengthening unity within the country is important to face the situation. Speaking at an Interfaith Conference organised by All India Sufi Sajjadnashin Council (AISCC), the NSA said there are forces which are trying to disturb peace in India, and emphasised that those who want to maintain social unity should be vocal, and not mute spectators. “There is a strange atmosphere in the world, an atmosphere of conflict. If we have to face it, the biggest requirement is we maintain unity in the country. The way the nation is progressing over last few years, every religion and community will be benefited by it,” Doval said. “There are many forces, who are trying to create an atmosphere of negativism, which will create obstruction in progress.
Some people, who in the name of religion or some other ideology, use violence and try to create differences. They impact the whole country and the whole world. The reason is that a large number of people like you perhaps do not raise their voices as they should,” he said at the interfaith conference. “The voice of a small minority sounds like the voice of the country… We will have to stop being mute spectators and work together, and if there are some misconceptions they will have to be removed and mistakes will have to be corrected,” he said.He said people of every section of society should feel safe in the country. “Different religions have coexisted in this country and all have played a role in taking the country forward… We are proud of the ancestors who gave us this thought, which some are trying to destroy,” he said.” Every Indian should have this confidence in their heart that every Indian is safe here, their life, property and dignity is safe and all Indians will stand by them. We are in a ship, we will sail together and sink together,” he said.
A resolution was also passed at the conference which said the aim of this dialogue was to have a rigorous discussions among the representatives of different faiths = Hindu, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Buddhism and Jain, about the growing religious intolerance in India. “The nation is going through tough times because of certain anti-social elements and groups who are trying to distort the image of India as a shining example of unity in diversity,” said the resolution. The resolution also demanded ban on Popular Front of India (PFI) and other such organisations.”Organisations like PFI and any other such fronts, who have been indulging in anti-national activities, pursuing a divisive agenda and creating discord amongst our citizens must be banned and action initiated against them as per Law of the land. At the same time, we strongly recommend that any person or organisation found guilty with evidence of spreading hatred among the communities through any means must be acted upon as per the provisions of law,” said the resolution. The resolution also spoke of hatred being spread through social media platforms are being used for promoting hatred against religions and its followers and urged government to take steps to curb it.
