Atishi appeals people not to go back home until water level comes below danger mark

New Delhi, July 17 (Agency) Delhi Minister Atishi on Monday appealed to the people who are staying in relief camps not to go back to their homes until the flood water level came down below the danger mark. She said that due to heavy rains in some areas of Haryana on Sunday, the water level of Yamuna is rising slightly today. Taking to Twitter, Atishi wrote, “Due to heavy rains yesterday in some areas of Haryana, the water level of Yamuna is rising slightly today. The Central Water Commission (CWC) estimated that the water level could reach 206.1m overnight. There is no danger for the people of Delhi from this. But all the people living in relief camps are requested not to go back to their homes just now. Go back to your homes only after the water level comes below the danger mark.”

Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic police have opened several roads for traffic after water level of Yamuna River receded, police said. The traffic movement have been opened on Ring Road in both the carriageways between Wazirabad flyover via Majnu Ka Tila to ISBT Kashmere Gate for medium and light Vehicles, Medium and light Vehicles on carriageway from ISBT Kashmere Gate via Salimgarh bypass upto IP flyover. The commuters are advised to take left turn towards Vikas Marg and further take loop or U turn to go towards Sarai kale khan due to water logging just before IP flyover, police said. The Ring Road Carriageway from Sarai Kale Khan to IP flyover via Geeta colony Underpass towards ISBT is opened for medium and light vehicles via Hanuman Setu and Outer Ring Road from Mukarba to Wazirabad, both Carriageways have been opened for light vehicles and buses, while Ring Road from Rajghat to Shanti Van – Monkey Bridge – Yamuna Bazar is still closed.
