Arunachal celebrates 9th International Day of Yoga with enthusiasm

Itanagar, June 22 (Representative) Along with the rest of the globe, Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday celebrated the 9th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with large numbers of Yoga practitioners and enthusiasts joining the Yoga Day events across the State with full enthusiasm. Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik along with his better half Anagha Parnaik, joined the officers and staff of Governor’s Secretariat, and State Police and ITBP personnel to celebrate the Yoga Day at Raj Bhavan here. Chief Minister Pema Khandu celebrated the International Yoga Day at Bumla Pass in Tawang district, along with the Indian Army officers and jawans. He thanked them for their selfless sacrifice in guarding and keeping our borders safe. The Yoga session, organised by Tawang district administration and District Ayush Society, was also attended by MLA Tsering Tashi, Commander of Tawang Brigade Brig NM Bendigeri, DC KN Damo and SP B Kamduk. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister, while greeting the people on Yoga Day, said, “Let’s make Yoga a way of life to stay fit and give our best to build a happier and healthier society.” Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein participated in a Yoga session at Kongmu Kham (Golden Pagoda), Tengapani in Namsai district. Mein, an active practitioner of Yoga for the past twenty years, spearheaded the rejuvenating Yoga session. He demonstrated various Yoga techniques and poses, guiding the participants in the process.

The session was attended by the inspiring Madras Regiment of the Indian Army, enthusiastic school students and dedicated volunteers, making it a memorable event dedicated to the art of Yoga. While addressing the gathering, Mein said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has popularised the traditional practice of ancient Indian Yoga to the global stage. He said that Modi has not only made Yoga popular but also popularised Indian culture in the global level. Expressing his thoughts on the event, Mein stated that witnessing people from all walks of life coming together to celebrate the harmony of body and mind was a remarkable sight. He urged everyone to embrace the path to a healthier and more balanced life through the practice of Yoga. The event was attended by several notable individuals, including BJP Namsai district president Chau Sujana Namchoom, Chongkham ZPM Chau Jenia Namchoom, State executive member Tseng Tsing Mein, and Brigadier Arun Awasthy, the Commander and Colonel Sandeep Kurup of the 181 Mountain Brigade, Lohitpur, Tezu.

State Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona, along with legislators Nyato Dukam, Nyamar Karbak, Tarin Dakpe and Gokar Basar, and senior officials took part in a Yoga session at the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly complex here. Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the Speaker emphasized the profound benefits of Yoga for attaining good health and peace of mind. He underscored the importance of incorporating regular yoga practice into daily routine for overall well-being. He also stated that the International Yoga Day serves as a timely reminder to all individuals to prioritize the daily practice of yoga for a better and more fulfilling life. MLAs Dukam and Dakpe also shared their insights. Recognizing the transformative power of Yoga, they encouraged their fellow lawmakers and citizens alike to embrace Yoga as a means to achieve physical fitness, mental clarity, and emotional balance. Reports of the IDY celebrations also poured in from all districts of the State.
