New Delhi, Feb 13 (FN Agency) A total of 79 projects worth Rs 1,359.61 crore have been completed during the last five years under various schemes being implemented by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER ) in the North Eastern region. The statement was made by the DONER Minister G Kishan Reddy in response to a question in the Lok Sabha on Monday. A total of 3,179 kms of road projects have been completed during the last 5 years in the region, the Minister said. With the recent operationalisation of eight airports, 17 airports are presently operational in the Northeast, he added.
The Donyi Polo Airport in Hollongi near Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh has been the recent most Airport to be operationalised, Reddy said. “Several infrastructure development projects inter alia for increasing road connectivity and National highways as well as for promoting airways have been taken up by the concerned Ministries and Departments of the Central Government in the region,” he added.
