Agartala, Nov 17 (Agency) Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister of Tripura Ratan Lal Nath on Friday claimed that about Rs 640.43 Cr has so far been directly transferred to the bank accounts of 2.23 lakh farmers of the state under PM Kisan scheme. According to Nath, Rs 44.59 Cr had been disbursed under the scheme as the 15th installment recently. The Prime Minister has announced the scheme in order to improve the life and livelihood of farmers of the country under which each farmer has been getting Rs 6,000 per year in three installments.
The Minister claimed the income of state farmers increased substantially after the BJP-led government assumed power in 2018 and stated, “In 2016-17, the monthly income of farmers of the state was only Rs 6,580, which was revealed in the survey conducted by National Sample Survey but the state economic survey revealed the monthly income of farmers increased to Rs 11,096 in 2021-22.” “The state government has been working on mission mode and set a target to increase the farmers’ income to Rs 13,590 in the current financial year,” Nath added.
