Vedanta Aluminium concludes annual Mines Safety Fortnight program, reiterating Safety-First approach
Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, reinforced the company’s commitment to ensuring safe operations at every stepwith an Annual Safety Fortnight program at its operations in Jamkhani, Odisha.The two-week initiative, designed in alignment with the guidelines of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), saw active participation from over 400 employees andbusiness partners. It revolved around the theme,‘SurakhshaNiyamo Ka Karein Palan, Na HogiDhurghatna Na Honge AapPareshan,’ (Adhere to safety rules, avoid accidents and mishaps).

The event commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a ‘Prabhat Pheri’rally, wherein the participants highlighted the importance of adhering to safety protocols. Subsequently, a range of safety-focused activities,including mock drills, safety talks, safety quizzes and other awareness programs were organizedover a fortnight.These initiatives collectively underscored the pivotal role of safe practices in ensuring a secure work environment for all. The program also featuredan external safety inspection conducted by officials from the Ib Valley Coal Mines, a subsidiary of Mahanadi Coal Limitedoperating under Coal India Limited.The rigorous evaluation served as a testament to Vedanta Aluminium’s unwavering commitment and transparency inensuring the highest standards of safety across its mining operations, beginning at the grassroots level, and extending to every employee and partner.During the event, the company also acknowledgedthe outstanding contributions of several employees for their steadfast dedication to promoting safety awareness in their respective departments, inspiring others to prioritize workplace safety.

These include defensive mock drills on responding to different kinds of emergencies, fire safety sessions with demonstrations of correct usage of safety equipment, and road safety awareness programs in local schools and colleges as well.
