US Prez Biden on mystery drone sightings: Nothing nefarious apparently

Washington, Dec 18 (FN Bureau) US President Joe Biden has for the first time publicly commented on the mysterious drones seen hovering in the skies above New Jersey and other states in the northeast, saying there was “nothing nefarious” about them.”Nothing nefarious, apparently,” Biden told reporters at the White House. Multiple drone sightings have been reported in the East Coast states of New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Florida since mid-November, the NBC news reported. The airspace of the US Marine Corps base, Camp Pendleton, in California has been repeatedly breached by drones of unknown origin, the War Zone news website reported on Tuesday, quoting a base representative. “On six occasions (from December 9 to 15), UAV intrusions into Camp Pendleton’s airspace were observed, posing no threat to operations at the facility,” the representative said.

The website reported that drones were once again spotted on December 16 and 17 over Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, which houses the Air Force Materiel Command and the Air Force Research Laboratory. The FBI said it had been receiving information from the public about clusters of drones over New York and New Jersey for several weeks. Local authorities demanded that federal agencies look into this. The Pentagon insisted that the drones did not come from foreign state adversaries. The US government has not seen any threats to national security or civilian airspace from drones over New Jersey, US National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby said on Monday.
