US announces visa restrictions on 893 Russian officials

Washington, August 3 (Representative) The US government has imposed visa restrictions on 893 Russian officials, including the members of the Federation Council as well as on defense officials over Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, the Department of State announced in a release and a Fact Sheet on Tuesday. “The Department of State is announcing a series of actions to promote accountability for actions by Russian Federation officials and others that implicate violations of Ukraine’s sovereignty to include: Visa restrictions on 893 Russian Federation officials, including members of the Federation Council and members of Russia’s military,” the release said.

The restrictions have been imposed pursuant to a policy of the Immigration and Nationality Act that restricts visa issuance to individuals who are believed to have supported, been actively complicit in, or been responsible for ordering or otherwise directing or authorizing actions that threaten or violate the sovereignty, territorial integrity, or political independence of Ukraine,, the release added.
