Police take legal action against 95 protesters

New Delhi, Oct 4 (Agency) Delhi Police is going to take legal action against 95 persons for staging a demonstration outside the Uttar Pradesh Bhawan against the death of nine people including famers in Lakhimpur Kheri in UP yesterday. Police said that despite repeated warnings regarding imposition of 144 CRPC in the area and DDMA guidelines when they did not leave the area. The protesters were detained and taken to Mandir Marg police station.

“Police had denied permission for a protest in the area. However, some organizations and political parties staged protests near UP Bhawan between 12 noon and 2 pm. Police have, now, taken legal action against those protesters,” said a senior police official. Police said appropriate legal action is being taken against total 70 males and 25 women, including 27 workers of Indian Youth Congress, 5 of SFI, 13 of RLD, 11 of AISA, 6 of AIKS, 17 of Janvadi Mahila Samiti, 17 of Krantikari Yuva Sangthan and 8 Samajvadi Party members.
