Kolkata, May 11 (Bureau) The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is probing various scams and their money trails across West Bengal, on Wednesday conducted raids on multiple premises across the city of a real estate group in connection with money laundering investigation, official sources here said. The ED sleuths divided in some five groups began raids early on Wednesday at the premises of builder Avijit Sen’s South City flat, his registered office at Deshapriya Park, Jodhpur Park and two other places in the southern part of the city.
Most of the areas in raids were in posh areas where the questionable builder promoted the multi-complexes. Sources said the builder has been accused of investing funds of many “influential people” who sought high returns and allotment of flat in posh areas of the city. The ED raids began from 5 am simultaneously in five areas. However, there were some attempts by the local people to frustrate the move of the central investigating authorities, they said.
