Moscow, Dec 15 (Agency) The Russia-India-China summit will be held in foreseeable future, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov informed on Wednesday. “The issue of cooperation in the Russia-India-China format, that is, in the RIC format, was touched upon. Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin] and Xi Jinping agreed that the exchange of views would continue in order to try to hold the next summit within the RIC framework in the near future,” Russian news agency Sputnik quoted Ushakov as saying. Ushakov was speaking to reporters after Russian President Vladimir Putin virtually held discussions with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
Last month, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar chaired a virtual meeting of the foreign ministers of the Russia-India-China (RIC) in which trilateral cooperation and regional and global issues were discussed. Foreign ministers of the Russia-India-China forum, in a joint statement, called on the international community to strengthen UN-led global counter-terrorism cooperation by fully implementing the relevant UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. On Afghanistan, the RIC Ministers – S Jaishankar, Sergey Lavrov from Russia and Wang Yi from China – noted rising concerns regarding the dramatic change of the situation in Afghanistan.
