Glasgow, Nov 1 (Representative) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday thanked his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison for his country’s recognition of India’s Covaxin, and said it is an important step forward in the bilateral partnership. “I thank my dear friend @ScottMorrisonMP for Australia’s recognition of India’s COVAXIN.
It is an important step forward in the post-COVID partnership between India and Australia,” the PM tweeted.
Earlier, Australia on Monday gave recognition to Covaxin, developed by India’s Bharat Biotech, in a major relief to Indian travellers. The Therapeutic Goods Administration of the Ministry of Health of the Australian government, in a statement said that “Covaxin (manufactured by Bharat Biotech, India)” “would be ‘recognised’ for the purpose of establishing a traveller’s vaccination status”. The Australian government had earlier given recognition to Covishield manufactured by AstraZeneca.
