Dhaka, Mar 20 (Agency) State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. Shahriar Alam reminded thatin 1971, the invading forces of Pakistan carried out genocide on Bangladeshis and it is important to say it again and again. He also mentioned that the media, expatriate Bangladeshis and friendly countries of Bangladesh need help in this work. He made this call while talking to reporters after a program at the Foreign Service Academy on Monday. The state minister said, “In 1971, many countries opposed Bangladesh due to geopolitical reasons. Many others covertly helped Pakistan. But now many of them have changed their position. Many of them have said many times in private discussions that their action at that time was wrong. But they don’t say that openly.
Bangladesh will reach a larger population, so that the issue is accepted globally, said Md. Shahriar Alam. He said, “We will overcome the hurdles in doing this officially, with the support of a large part of the world.” I think we have achieved a lot. I can do more in the coming days. In the next few years, we hope to see it recognized by most of the world, if not officially, by people.Regarding the challenge in this regard, he said, there is a Genocide Day in the United Nations and therefore March 25 cannot be a global Genocide Day.Second, the UN has not recognized any other genocide after the Armenian Genocide. From that point of view, some states are saying that the Rohingya have been massacred; We tell them—Bangladesh has had more mass killings and to acknowledge that too.
