Islamabad, March 29 (Agency) Pakistan’s Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that the no-confidence motion was the result of corruption under Imran Khan’s regime since he became the Prime Minister. The Pakistan Muslim League (N) chief also criticised the PM for the economic turmoil in the country. “Imran Khan talks about Riyast-e-Madina but allowed corruption and plundered national wealth, throwing the masses into misery,” Geo News quoted Sharif as saying at a public rally organised by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in Islamabad against the Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaaf (PTI) government. Shahbaz also said that PM Khan kept lying throughout his tenure.
“Are inflation and poverty in the country due to an international conspiracy?” he asked. Speaking at same event, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman termed the Pakistan government “illegal and incompetent” and said, “the time to end the incumbent government has come, however, it will be wiped out in a way that no one would ever think of ruling country this way”. On Monday, Sharif had tabled a no-confidence resolution against PM Khan in the House. Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri presided over the much-anticipated session that began after a two-day recess. No-confidence resolution was one of the 26-point agenda slated to be discussed in the session.
