Washington, Sep 16 (FN Bureau) Melania Trump, the wife of former US President and presidential candidate Donald Trump, said the FBI had invaded her privacy with a search of their estate in Mar-a-Lago in August 2022 as part of one of its investigations into Trump. “I never imagined my privacy would be invaded by the government here in America. The FBI raided my home in Florida and searched through my personal belongings. This is not just my story, it serves as a warning to all Americans, a reminder that our freedom and rights must be respected,” Melania said in a video on X.
After Melania’s short speech, the video shows a title card with the cover of her memoir “Melania,” which is expected to be published this fall. Earlier, Melania Trump announced the release of an autobiographical book in two versions. In August 2022, the FBI conducted a search of Trump’s estate, the reason for which was the storage of classified documents by the former president. Law enforcement officers came to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida as part of a case on the illegal use, theft and destruction of official materials.
They seized thousands of documents, including various levels of secrecy, up to the highest. Trump did not agree with the investigative procedures and criticized the actions of the Justice Department, claiming that they were politically motivated. In mid-July, District Judge Aileen Cannon ruled to close the case against Trump, stating that the appointment of Jack Smith as a special prosecutor was contrary to the norms of the US constitution. Smith later appealed this decision.
