Kathmandu, Oct 28 (Agency) Nepal’s former ambassador to the United States, Shankar Sharma, has been recommended as the next ambassador to India, a news report said. Nepal Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand said the government had recommended ambassadors to India, the United States and the United Kingdom. The post of Nepal’s ambassador to India had gone vacant after the Sher Bahadur Deuba government on September 22 recalled ambassadors from 12 countries earlier appointed by the KP Oli government.
Nimlamber Acharya, who was serving as Nepal’s ambassador to India from February 2019, returned to Kathmandu last week. Professor Shridhar Khatri has been recommended as Nepal’s ambassador to the United States. Professor Khatri has headed several think tanks in Kathmandu and Sri Lanka earlier. Yubraj Khatiwada, who was appointed ambassador to the United States by the erstwhile KP Sharma Oli government, returned to Kathmandu on Thursday. Likewise, the government has recommended former foreign secretary and ambassador Gyan Chandra Acharya as Nepal’s next ambassador to the United Kingdom.
