Vivek Agnihotri mocks Akshay Kumar’s praise for ‘The Kashmir Files’, calls it ‘majboori mein’

New Delhi, May 9 (Representative) Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has been targeting his guns on Bollywood for a long time, and especially so after the success of his directorial “The Kashmir Files”. The director has now trained guns at Akshay Kumar, mocking his praise for the film as false. Akshay Kumar’s own film “Bachchan Pandey” had hit theatres some time after “The Kashmir Files” and was mostly crushed by the latter. Vivek Agnihotri’s film outgrossed several other Bollywood movies that were released even prior to his film, such as “Gangubai Kathiawadi” and “Sooryavanshi”. In a recent interview with RJ Raunac, Vivek Agnihotri criticized the “dumb & stupid mindset” of Bollywood. RJ had later pointed out in his interview that the industry had indeed praised the director and the cast for the success of “The Kashmir Files” by saying “But appreciate kiya na Bollywood ke kaffi saare log ne aapki film ko appreciate kiya hai,” (But many people from Bollywood did appreciate your film). Vivek questioned the host’s claim that his film was appreciated by Bollywood actors asking him to name the celebs, and Raunac said “Akshay Kumar.”

Then Vivek said, “Woh toh…ab majboori mein kya bolega aadmi jab 100 log saamne khade hoke sawaal puchenge… ki The Kashmir Files chal gayi… aapki film (Bachchhan Paandey) nahi chali… aur woh chal gayi. Kya bol sakte hai? Woh toh hum ek function mein the Bhopal mein.. toh bolna pad gaya. ( That was said in desperation, what can a man say when 100 people are standing in front of you and start questioning you…. That The Kashmir Files was successful and your film was not. What can you say?) Vivek added that Akshay’s comment was only “limited to the cameras”. Earlier, after “Bachchan Pandey” bombed at the box office, Akshay Kumar and Vivek met at an event, and Kumar expressed his view over Vivek’s film. He spoke on how the film is like a wave in the country. “Vivek ji ne film banakar humaare desh ke bhaut bade dardnaak sach ko saamne rkha hai. Ye film ek aisi wave banke aayi jisne hum sab ko jhanjodkar rakh dia. Vo alag baat hai ki meri picture ko bhi dubo diya. (The Kashmir Files came like a huge wave in the country that shook all of us. It has also sabotaged my own film).” Director Vivek Agnihotri also shared the clip, and wrote, “Thanks Akshay Kumar for your appreciation for #TheKashmirFiles.”
